FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: proposed here is a microwave device for heating dielectric materials, which has two periodic slow-wave structures, consisting of pins, chords and plates, placed one on top of the other. The periodic slow-wave structures are arranged such that, electromagnetic field energy propagates in mutually opposite directions, and are displaced from each other in the axial direction by half the distance between the chords. The periodic slow-wave structures are identical and are put across the direction of movement the dielectric material. The device is provided with at least, two identical periodical slow-wave structures, placed one on top of the other. The pairs are placed across the direction of movement of the dielectric material and the pairs are placed in mutually opposite directions to propagation of electromagnetic field energy relative the neighbouring pair.
EFFECT: provision for uniform distribution of temperature field in sheet dielectric materials in travelling wave mode due to elimination of the so called "band effect".
