FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to electrochemical power engineering and particularly to solid oxide fuel cells with operation temperature ranging from 500 to 750°C. According to the invention, the method of making a contact layer on a planar solid oxide fuel cell on the cathode side of a bipolar plate is implemented through depositing a coating of a metal oxide. A layer of indium oxide is formed when the solid oxide fuel cell is rising to power. The indium oxide layer is formed in an air stream at 200°C±5% temperature. Thermal stabilisation is then carried out for 50÷60 minutes, as well as thermocycling at a rate of 80÷100°C in the range of 450÷150°C, maintaining a high temperature value for 60÷70 minutes and a low temperature value for 30÷40 minutes. Thermocycling is repeated 3÷4 times.
EFFECT: design of a simple method making contact coatings on the cathode side of a bipolar plate, with low contact resistance.
