FIELD: fire safety.

SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed at fire extinguishing in reservoirs with a fixed cover (SVR) or with a fixed cover and a piston (SVRP) or in reservoirs with a floating roof. Method of extinguishing firing of flammable and combustible liquids in reservoirs by supplying fire extinguishing gas dispersion mixture from fire extinguishing modular unit or units set mounted outside the reservoir or on the floating roof is distinguished by the fact that the fire extinguishing gas dispersion mixture is produced in two steps: first - not less than one fifth of the gaseous and/or liquefied flame retarder or of the mixture of gaseous and/or liquefied phlegmatiser is supplied to a prechamber tank with dispersed heterogenic chemical flame retarder under the pressure of not less than 2.5 MPa, the gaseous and/or liquefied mixture components are fed to the prechamber from a flask or a flask system or a gas generator with turn on/off devices actuated according to the signal from a detector or manually through a tubular aerator mounted inside the prechamber which is opening under the pressure of not less than 0.9 MPa and by an outlet valve is connected to a secondary accelerating-mixing chamber where the gas dispersion mixture is finally formed with the relation of gas and dispersion specified by the invention; second - the gas dispersion mixture is supplied from the accelerating-mixing chamber through pipelines to a nozzle block fitted with a stop valve to open the nozzle block equipped by at least one nozzle which is made with a supersonic convergent tube and with the relation of the nozzle length to its diametre providing for the pressure at the nozzle end of at least 0.11 MPa and mass flow rate of at least 15 kg/s.

EFFECT: invention opens the device for extinguishing flammable and combustible liquid fire in reservoirs in the described way and provides for expanding the temperature application range of gas dispersion method and increasing the fire extinguishing efficiency.
