FIELD: printing industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to band printers, namely to a portable band printer designed for use with a cartridge. A band printer designed for use with a ribbon cartridge and a ribbon cassette comprises a casing and a printing head where a line of printed components is formed; the printer comprises at least one installation section in the casing aimed at the installation of the ribbon cartridge and ribbon cassette so that they can be installed in the direction essentially perpendicular to the printed component line on the printing head when the printing head is in the printing position implying usage of two installation sections: one is designed for the ribbon cartridge and the other one - for the ribbon cassette.

EFFECT: system of band printing comprising the above band printer with the combination of the ribbon cartridge where the band is stored and a ribbon cassette where the ink ribbon is stored, the ribbon cassette for the band printer and a method of installing the ribbon cartridge and ribbon cassette into the band printer are proposed.
