FIELD: physics, measurements.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to non-destructive testing of metal structures using the acoustic emission method. In compliance with this invention, the proposed method comprises the steps that follow. The simulator acoustic transducer is installed into area limited by piezo antenna. The time during which acoustic emission signal arrive to aforesaid acoustic transducers making aforesaid piezo aerial is calculated via wavelet-filtered signals. The error in determination of the simulator acoustic transducer coordinates is calculated. The factor amplitude threshold values are selected for wavelet filtration at which the error in defining the simulator coordinates takes a minimum value. The wavelet filtration frequency range is varied unless the error in the said simulator acoustic transducer takes the minimum values. Now the metal structure is loaded to use the obtained wavelet filtration parametres for filtering acoustic emission signals and defining their coordinates. The invention covers also the device that embodies the above described method.
EFFECT: higher accuracy and expanded applications.
