FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to analytical chemistry and is meant for determining the actual osmolarity of electrolytic infusion solutions. The proposed method involves taking a sample of solution and determination of molar concentration of sodium ions in the solution and at least in the concentration interval of sodium ions from 92 mmol/l to 144 mmol/l. The actual osmolarity of the solution is determined from an earlier discovered correlation. The correlation has a polynomial curve character and does not depend on the method used to determine concentration of sodium ions and, with an approximation certainty index of 0.9937, it is described by equation y=0.004x2-0.3522x + 263.16, where y is the actual osmolarity mOsmol/l, and x is concentration of sodium ions, mmol/l.
EFFECT: proposed method increases rate, accuracy and makes easier determination of osmolarity of electrolytic infusion solutions.
