A communication system contains first user equipment, with a first characteristic identifier, second user equipment, with a second characteristic identifier, and a service network, serving the first and second user equipment. The method, according to the invention, involves: request (200) for virtual identifier through the first user equipment; establishing (202) the virtual identifier for the first user equipment; linking (202) the virtual identifier of the first user equipment with the first characteristic identifier of the first user equipment and use (210) of the virtual identifier of the first user equipment for establishing communication between the first and second user equipment.
EFFECT: more efficient hiding of user identity.
