SUBSTANCE: invention pertains to biology, ecology and cardiology. Video sequence of magnified image of daphnia's heart is produced. Whereat video sequence is produced in the visual field fixed by microscope, video materials are introduced at the speed of 30 shots per second and analysed. Borders of daphnia's heart are defined on every shot; area, restricted by the defined borders is calculated; time dependence of the square areas in every shot is calculated. Heart beat is defined by the value of the mean period value of the stated dependence, and amplitude - by the value of the mean amplitude value of the stated dependence.

EFFECT: method widens range of means of detection of heart beat rate and amplitude of daphnia's heart.
