FIELD: environmental monitoring. SUBSTANCE: in a method wherein toxicity of aqueous medium is tested by comparing changes in vibration parameter of controllable area of biological test object while object is subjected to optical irradiation being placed in reference medium and medium to be tested, before placing test object into aqueous medium, motion of test object as a whole is prevented, period of motion of controllable area of test object is estimated and change range of basic vibration frequency of controllable area is determined. Afterwards, one forms direct reflection and that reflected from the test area of object, summarizes them, and affects with them radiation source registering periodical changes in the source radiation intensity. From the spectrum of registered signal, one selects harmonic with maximum amplitude within specified vibration frequency change range and finds precise value of basic vibration frequency. Further, one selects, from the spectrum, harmonics with maximum amplitude in the vicinity of frequencies multiple of basic vibration frequency and judges, from their assembly, about control values of the motion pattern of controllable area of test object, which is compared with motion pattern values in toxic aqueous medium. From the deviation of vibration patterns from reference values, one judges of aqueous medium toxicity. EFFECT: improved reliability due to increased number of test parameters. 4 dwg
