FIELD: fire extinguishing equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fire extinguishing equipment, namely to fire extinguishing and fire preventing means for high inflammable liquids, flammable substances and materials in a closed volume. An aerosol forming fire extinguishing composition contains potassium nitrate, dicyandiamide and combustible-binding substance. The latter is a solid epoxide chosen from the group: epoxylacquer resin, epoxydiane resin, triglycedylisocianurate in combination with a hardening agent: p-aminbensoin acid and/or phenolformaldehyde resin and/or urotropine with the following ratio of components, wt %: combustible-binding substance - 7-10, dicyandiamide - 10-14, potassium nitrate - the remaining part. Each of the binding components has melting or softening temperature not less than 80°C. The aerosol forming fire extinguishing composition can additionally contain technological additives and combustion modifiers in the amount of 0.2-5.0 wt %. Method of manufacturing the aerosol forming fire extinguishing composition involves grinding original solid components up to the required dispersibility, their mixing and pressing the mixture. Grinding and mixing is carried out in the same apparatus under the temperature not exceeding the melting or softening temperature of the composition components during the time period necessary to achieve average size of the powder mixture not more than 40 mcm. Lack of liquid or low-melting components in the composition and its low sensitivity to mechanical stresses provide for manufacturing of mixtures without solvents combining grinding and mixing operations in one apparatus.

EFFECT: increased fire extinguishing ability and decreased toxicity of combustion products.
