FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves electrolyte sampling, sample preparation to X-ray diffraction and same X-ray analysis to evaluate the cryolite ratio. X-ray diffraction is combined with recording fluorescence intensity of analytic lines Na and Al with using a goniometre, while mass fraction of aluminium oxide is derived from the relation: CAl2O3=1.89 (CAl-1.176 CNa/Ko), where: CAl2O3 is a mass fraction of aluminium oxide in a sample, %; CAl is a mass fraction of element aluminium in the sample resulted from fluorescence intensity of analytic line Al, %; CNa is a mass fraction of element sodium in the sample resulted from fluorescence intensity of analytic line Na, %; Ko is the molar ratio of sodium fluoride to aluminium fluoride symbolically named the cryolite ratio, standard units. Fluorescence intensity of analytic lines Na and Al is recorded by two arranged monochromators.
EFFECT: high-accurate and efficient aluminium oxide content in electrolysis bath, higher performance characteristics of electrolysis.
