FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for X-ray phase determination of cryolite ratio during electrolytic production of aluminium and can be used for determination of electrolyte composition. Method includes selecting an electrolyte sample, preparing sample for analysis, analytical measurement of intensity of diffraction lines of cryolite phase Na3AlF6, chiolite Na5Al3F14, fluorite CaF2, one and a half calcium cryolite Na2Ca3Al2F14, single calcium cryolite NaCaAlF6 sodium fluoride NaF, wherein concentration of said electrolyte phases is determined by formula: C j = ( I j a / K j a ) / ( l M I l a / K j a ) , , and cryolite ratio determined by formula: K O = 2 × j α j C j j β j C j , where: - intensity of analytical line of j-th phase, - corundum number of j-th phase, calculated for said analytical line, M - number of fluoride phases, Cj - concentration of mineralogical sample phases; αj, βji - weight fractions of, respectively, NaF and AlF3 in j-th phase.

EFFECT: simplified and increased accuracy of determination of electrolyte composition.
