FIELD: physics; measurement.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to exploration of hydrocarbons by making microelectric measurements in a well shaft filled with non-conducting fluid medium. The method involves injecting current into a formation in the first position along the wall of the well and returning this current to the second position along the wall. Frequency of the formation current is approximately below 100 kHz. Voltage in the formation is measured between the third and fourth positions, which lie along the wall of the well between the first and second positions. The formation current is calculated by subtracting leakage current. The amplitude of the voltage component which is in phase with the formation current is determined.
EFFECT: picking up formation signals on the background of noise signals.
