FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: described is a method of producing ethylene polymers, performed in the presence of a catalyst system, containing (i) solid catalyst component, containing Mg, Ti, halogen and, possibly, an inner electron-donor compound (ID), and (ii) Al-alkyl compound. The said method involves at least two polymerisation stages (a) and (b), on which: on the first stage (a) ethylene is polymerised in the presence of hydrogen as a molecular weight regulator, to obtain ethylene homo- or copolymer; and on the next stage (b), which is done in the presence of an outer electron-donor compound (OD), chosen from alcohol, glycols, esters, ketones, amines, amides, nitriles, alkoxysilanes and ethers, added on this polymerisation stage as a fresh reagent; ethylene is copolymerised with alpha olefin of formula CH2=CHR, in which R represents a C1-C20 hydrocarbon group, to obtain an ethylene copolymer with molecular weight higher than that of the homo- and copolymer obtained on stage (a).
EFFECT: obtaining ethylene copolymer with wide molecular weight distribution.
