FIELD: wood processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cross cutting logs. The method involves longitudinal interrupted motion of a log with measurement of the length of the sawn off section of the log. Before each sawing, the log is stopped, and at the end of sawing the log is moved by a distance equal to the length of the next sawing section of the log, after which the cross cutting cycle is repeated until the end of the root and middle part of the log. Through crosswise motion, the top part of the log is moved to the sawing unit, located in a single row for simultaneous cross cutting of the top part of the log into short logs. The distance between the saws is not less than minimum length of the short log with allowance on the saw and joining the short logs into long logs. Before joining the sections of the log in form of short logs, the logs are grouped according to thickness, species and defects in the wood for joining short logs into different types of long logs.
EFFECT: invention increases output of wood material.
