SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ship-raising and can be used for carrying out rescue operations at sea, lifting from the bottom of water bodies and subsequent transportation of sunken ships and other objects. The method of lifting a sunken object is characterised by that, flexible elastic hollow covers are attached to the outer surface of a rescue submarine, as well as on the body of the sunken object. The sunken object is held using these covers. The device for lifting a sunken object using a rescue submarine is characterised by that, the above mentioned covers can be joined to each other and attached to the outer surface the sunken object, with possibility of holding it, and on the outer surface of the rescue submarine. These covers are so flexible that, they take the shape of the outer surface of the rescue submarine. Compressed gas used can be gas obtained from reacting chemical reagents with seawater.

EFFECT: invention allows for realising a cheaper and reliable method of lifting sunken objects, including submarines, without breaking them up, which makes it possible to carry out rescue operations independent of the time of the year and conditions on the surface of the sea when using the device, which can be easily mounted on the rescue vessel and suitable for repeated use when realising the method described above.
