FIELD: physics; measurement.

SUBSTANCE: proposed invention relates to means of controlling units of equipment for detecting current conducting objects under a layer of earth, asphalt, snow etc. The said device contains a bar, at the end of which are attached the case of a scanning head, and an indicator of the position of the scanning head. On the case of the scanning head an ultrasonic transmitter is fitted. The ultrasonic transmitter is controlled by a generator at frequency over 18 kHz, focused on two ultrasonic detectors spaced at locating distance. The ultrasonic detectors are connected to inputs of a device for converting difference in arrival time of signal from the ultrasonic transmitter into an angular coordinate, which is connected to the indicator of the position of the scanning head.

EFFECT: provision for easier use in field conditions, increasing accuracy of locating a sought object.
