FIELD: technology for finding underground cables and wires.
SUBSTANCE: method includes generation of alternating probing signal, feeding of it into line being diagnosed, receipt of electromagnetic radiation from the line being diagnosed by means of receiver antenna, movement of the antenna along the route with its simultaneous scanning in transverse direction relatively to direction of the route, transformation of received electromagnetic radiation to electric signal and output thereof to indicator. Probing signal is formed of two components - high frequency of 8000 Hz order and low frequency of 500 Hz order. These signals are automatically fed into line being diagnosed with alternation in certain time periods. High frequency and low frequency signals received from the line being diagnosed are registered in the receiver by means of the antenna. Amplitudes of received signals are compared and on basis of difference of amplitudes, deviation from route is evaluated.
EFFECT: increased resistance to interference from influence of outside metallic objects.
