FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to gas-diffusion structures, such as gas-diffusion electrodes and substrates of gas-diffusion electrodes, and to methods of making them. According to the invention, the gas-diffusion structure contains a multilayer coating on a fabric. The coating is provided with a thin gradient of porosity and hydrophobicity on the entire thickness and contains separate layers, containing carbon and particles of binding substance. The carbon particles contain at least one more hydrophobic carbon and one more hydrophilic carbon. The said thin gradients are obtained by laying separate layers with different weight ratio between the said more hydrophobic carbon and the said more hydrophilic carbon.
EFFECT: efficient transfer of gas, removal of water and improved general characteristics of membrane electrode structures.
