FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to making a sorbent based polysaccharide and can be used for purifying sewage water from metals, in veterinary science and medicine for introducing organically bonded macro- and microelements into a body. First, alkaline xanthan is obtained by holding a mixture, formed from 1.62 g xanthan, 1.20 g sodium hydroxide and 4.60 ml distilled water, on a water bath while stirring at temperature 60-65°C for 4.5-5 hours. Sodium monochloroacetate is then obtained by stirring to a thick consistence a mixture, formed from 1.60 g sodium carbonate and 2.84 g monochloroacetic acid, and drying on a sand bath at temperature 120-125°C for 3-4 hours. The obtained alkaline xanthan and sodium monochloroacetate are mixed and pounded for one hour. 40-45 ml of distilled water and a hydrochloric acid solution are added until pH is equal to 7-7.5. The obtained neutral solution is precipitated by adding 100 ml of 96% ethanol. The obtained precipitate is filtered, dried at 23-25°C for a day, pounded in a porcelain jar until formation a homogeneous thin powder.
EFFECT: increased metal adsorption properties of the sorbent, which results in efficient purification of sewage water from metals.
