FIELD: instrument making.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to seals and can be used to seal rods or shafts operating in contact with high-pressure liquids. The proposed stuffing box comprises casing accommodating packing with sealing elements separated from pressure space with the help of pressure sleeve. Aforesaid pressure space houses pressure increase device and release device. The former can represent a check valve accommodated on the pressure sleeve hole. It can also represent a space separated from the high-pressure zone with the help of separating sleeve. Aforesaid space communicates with the pressure space via check valve. The stuffing box packing allows increasing the force, the sealing elements are pressed to the shaft or rod with, when pressure difference in low- and high-pressure zones increases.
EFFECT: higher reliability.
