FIELD: sealing technology in oil producing industry; fittings of sucker-rod pumping units for sealing sucker-rod pump.
SUBSTANCE: proposed stuffing-box unit has body with cover components to be sealed, pressure bush and packing arranged coaxially. Packing is used for sealing the cavity filled with working fluid. Compensating cavity arranged in body between pressure bush and pressure cavity consists of two chambers separated from each other by means of check valve and separated from pressure chamber by means of separating bush; it is engageable with packing through pressure bush. Provision is made for maintenance of constant pressure of stuffing-box packing on component to be sealed and automatic compensation for its wear.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability and reduction of servicing cycles.
