SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer security and, more specifically, to managing connection to computer applications and managing data transfer using predefined network zones to networks with varying properties. A computer assigns networks to network zones, based on predefined properties for each zone and/or network properties. An application program installed on the computer provides the computer with preference information, which indicates the network zone, network strategy or properties most suitable for the application program. After execution of the application program, the computer limits network contact of the application program with the network (networks) assigned to network zone (network zones), identified as the preferred network zone (network zones) or identified by preferred network property or properties from preference information from the application program.

EFFECT: increased security of computers and data transferred on a network (networks).
