FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: linear cerebral blood flow speed in the middle cerebral artery is recorded using transcranial doplerography. On the background of recording after 5 cardiac cycles, the common carotid artery is compressed on the location side until restoring initial value of cerebral blood flow. Pulsative index Pi is calculated from the formula Pi=(Vs-Vd):Vm and overshoot coefficient KO= V3:V1 where Vs - is linear systolic speed, Vd - is linear diastolic speed, Vm - is linear average speed, V3 - is linear cerebral blood flow speed after compression of the common carotid artery, V1 - is linear blood flow speed before compression of the carotid artery. The prognostic index (IP) is calculated using formula IP=KO:Pi. If the prognostic index lies in the interval 1.59-1.31 a successful outcome is predicted, if the prognostic index lies in the interval 1.30-1.03, a state which requires urgent surgical treatment is predicted and if prognostic index increases, successful treatment outcome is predicted. If prognostic index is less than 1.03, unsuccessful treatment outcome is predicted.

EFFECT: method widens the arsenal of means of predicting outcome of craniocerebral injury.
