METHOD OF DETERMINING LATENT CEREBRAL VENOUS INSUFFICIENCY IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC A61B5/26

Abstract RU 2549672 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: ultrasonic Dopplerography is performed to children aged from 3 to 7 years through the transoccipital access at 1 cm above the external occipital protuberance, and the maximal systolic rate of the blood flow in the vein of Galen at rest and with antiorthostatic loading test is determined in a lying on the abdomen position with an angle of the trunk inclination of -20 - (-30°) relative to the longitudinal body axis with the forehead resting against clasped palms. After that, the reactivity index (RI) is calculated by an original formula. If RI is higher than 50%, a conclusion about latent cerebral venous insufficiency is made. To children aged from 8 to 18 years ultrasonic Dopplerography is performed through the transoccipital access at 1 cm above the external occipital protuberance, the maximal systolic rate of the blood flow in the vein of Galen at rest and in Valsalva test with the retardation of breath at inhalation for 10 sec, with the examined person being in the horizontal position, lying on the abdomen, in the straight head position with the forehead resting against clasped palms. After that, the reactivity index (RI) is calculated by the original formula. If RI is higher than 50% in the children from 8 to 13 years old or higher than 34% for the children from 14 to 18 years old, a conclusion about latent cerebral venous insufficiency is made.

EFFECT: group of inventions makes it possible to identify latent cerebral venous insufficiency in children of different age by ultrasonic transcranial Dopplerography with carrying out loading tests due to the determination of the rate of the blood flow in deep cerebral veins.
