FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: blood flow velocity in the middle cerebral artery is measured by transcranial Doppler sonography. The index of blood flow ripple and reactivity coefficient of brain vessels alone and against the background of a load test are determined, compared by degree of change in relation to the average age norm adopted. At that, a helium compress cooled to 8-12°C is used as a load test, which is applied to the face of the subject for the time of breath delay during non-forced exhalation for 20-30 seconds. Against the background of this stress test, the reactivity coefficient of brain vessels is determined.
EFFECT: methods improves accuracy and reliability of brain resistance vessels reactivity determination, as well as its sensitivity to stress tests, by engaging involvment of neurogenic, myogenic and metabolic blood circulation autoregulating circuits in response to one-stage complex stimulus, eliminates cases of false low reactivity associated with low sensitivity to metabolic shifts, on which all tests associated with hypercapnic exposure only are based.
