FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of depositing wear-resistant coating on a cutting instrument and can be used in metal working. An under layer is deposited from a nitride or carbonitride compound of nitride or carbonitride compound of titanium, zirconium and aluminium with the following ratio of components, wt %: titanium 75.4-76.6, zirconium 10.0-10.6, aluminium 13.4-14.0; an intermediate layer from nitride or carbonitride compound of titanium, zirconium, molybdenum and aluminium with the following ratio of components, wt %: titanium 75.7-77.2, zirconium 9.3-10.2, molybdenum 4.6-4.8, aluminium 8.9-9.3; top layer from nitride or carbonitride compound of titanium, zirconium and molybdenum with the following ratio of components, wt %: titanium 72.8-75.1, zirconium 18.0-20.0, molybdenum 6.9-7.2. Three cathodes are used, lying horizontally in the same plane. The first electrode is made from titanium and aluminium, the second from titanium and molybdenum and is placed opposite the first, and the third electrode is made from titanium and zirconium and is placed in between.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of the cutting instrument.
