FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy particularly dealing with production of a low-alloyed steel to be used for manufacture of building structures operating under subzero temperatures. The steel contains carbon, manganese, silica, aluminium, chrome, nickel, copper, nitrogen, vanadium, calcium, barium, strontium and iron, the components ratio (wt %) being as follows: carbon - 0.01 to less than 0.12%, manganese - 1.30 - 1.70%, silica - 0.50 - 0.80%, aluminium - 0.001 - 0.010%, chrome - 0.01 - 0.30%, nickel - 0.01 - 0.30%, copper - 0.01 - 0.30%, nitrogen - 0.015 - 0.020%, vanadium - 0.05 - 0.15%, calcium - 0.0001 - 0.005%, barium - 0.0001 - 0.005%, strontium - 0.0001 - 0.008%, iron - balance.
EFFECT: improved purity of steel in terms of non-metallic inclusions resulting in provision for consistently high values of strength and impact viscosity under subzero temperatures.
