FIELD: oil and gas production.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the field of instrumentation and control equipment. This result is provided by the fact that one of method realisation versions includes installation of at least one distributed optic fibre temperature detector in soil above pipeline surface parallel to its axis. Between pipeline and detector or above detector there is screen installed, which sends gas flow from pipeline in case of leak into upper central area of trench, which is adjacent to detector, and prevents gas flow into peripheral areas of trench distanced from detector. Another version of method realisation provides for zigzag installation of distributed optic fibre temperature detector in horizontal plane above pipeline. Temperature is measured continuously, and its drop is used to identify availability and area of leak.
EFFECT: aimed at possibility to provide efficient method for identification of gas breakthrough area in pipeline independently on its azimuthal location with the help of single distributed optic fibre temperature detector.
