METHOD FOR STABILISATION OF ENERGY SCALE OF MULTI-CHANNEL SCINTILLATING SPECTROMETRES OF GAMMA-RADIATION Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC G01T1/40

Abstract RU 2366979 C1

FIELD: physics, measurements.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the field of nuclear instrument-making. Spectrometre is used to register γ-radiation from at least one control source of radiation supplied prior to measurement of surveyed radiation. Control source used is isotopic source of fast neutrons based on (α,n) reaction to 9Be. Source, and also detector are screened for protection of spectrometre detector against slow neutrons and soft gamma-radiation of source. Prior to regular measurement, position of peaks of complete absorption of radiation from used control source is identified on energy scale of spectrometre, and dependence is built between position of spectrometre channel number on energy of γ-radiation in range of energies from 59.5 keV to 4.44 MeV, by the following peaks of complete absorption: 59.5 keV, (94.7 - 103.8) keV, 511 keV, 834 keV, 3.42 MeV, 3.93 MeV, 4.44 MeV. Results of dependence are input into computer memory as reference dependence. Then position of complete absorption peaks from surveyed radiation is compared to reference dependence, and in case of deviation position of peaks is corrected, changing amplification ratio.

EFFECT: expansion of spectrometre energy scale stabilisation range up to two orders, reduced integral non-linearity compared to application of reference spectrometric gamma-sources, stabilisation of spectrometre energy scale by several reference lines, possibility to use for any available design of detection units.
