FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of detecting antineutrinos by scintillation method. Essence of the invention is that antineutrinos are detected by reverse beta decay on protons, wherein in layers of segmented gadolinium-containing inorganic scintillator, alternating with layers of organic scintillator, scintillation photons are detected from annihilation of positron reverse beta-decay (instantaneous signal) generated during the reaction, as well as scintillation photons from the gamma-ray cascade emitted when neutrons are absorbed during the reaction of reverse beta decay (delayed signal).

EFFECT: possibility of detecting reactor antineutrinos.
