SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an electrophotographic or electrostatic device for forming images, for example a copying device or printer. An image forming device is proposed, which contains: a paper holder, recording material, a unit for forming an image on a photosensitive element, a primary roller for transferring an image to an intermediate transfer belt, a secondary transfer belt for transferring an image to the recording material, and a sensor for determining the size of the recording material. The time mark for the beginning of feeding in recording material is before the time mark for the beginning of formation of the image. When formation of an image on the recording material begins, before the sensor determines the size of the recording material, several images are formed with the first interval on the intermediate transfer belt, which correspond to the predetermined size of the recording material, and after the sensor determines the size of the recording material, several images with the second interval are formed on the intermediate transfer belt, which correspond to the found size of the recording material.

EFFECT: increased efficiency of image formation, even if the size of the recording material is not known.
