SUBSTANCE: image generation device may select the first mode intended to detect type of provided recording medium and generate image on the basis of detected type, and the second mode intended to generate image on the basis of previously assigned type of recording medium. At the same time, if the second mode is selected, control unit performs operation of type detection by means of detection unit with respect to the provided recording medium, and if the first mode is selected, control unit specifies conditions of image generation on the basis of detection result from detection unit in the second mode, without detection by means of detection unit.
EFFECT: high quality of image by recognition of sheet type even in case that differs from the case of automatic mode establishment, with simultaneous reduction of effect at efficiency.
