FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to ophthalmology and can be used for evaluating visual capacity in weak-sighted persons. In conformity with visual acuity, a correction table consisting of 400, or 300, or 250, or 200 alphabetic signs and printed in 8, 12, 16 and 20 type size is shown at the fixed space. Said table includes 10 various alphabetic signs in random number and sequence of a size that exceeds a patient's reading limit in 1.2-1.3 times. The number of the identical letters is counted to evaluate the visual capacity by formula V = (n/N)×(A/t), where V is a visual capacity, n is a number of counted signs of the specified letter, N is an actual number of preset letter in the table, A is a total number of all signs in the table, t is viewing time spent.
EFFECT: method allows for objective assessment of a functional condition of a visual analyzer in evaluating the visual work capacity, in choosing the optimum correction or the optimal working conditions, in estimating quality of the administered treatment.
