WEDGE STRAIN CLAMP Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC H02G7/02 

FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical power engineering, more specifically to wedge strain clamps for fastening cables or overhead transmission lines. The clamp has side plates (1, 2), journals (3), covers (4, 5), top and bottom wedges (6, 7) and devices (11, 12) for pre-tightening the wedges (6, 7). Rods (13, 14) are attached to journals (3), and the latter join the clamp through a pin (17) to elements of the insulator set of the line. On plates (1, 2) there are rectangular projections (18), and on covers (4, 5) there are reciprocating open grooves (22). When assembling the clamp, projections (18) enter grooves (22), forming a one-piece casing (23) for the clamp. Wedges (6, 7) are made with segment channels (8, 9) under the cable (line) (10) installation. To increase adhesion of wedges (6, 7) to surfaces of the cable (line) radial cuts (25) are made on the channels, lying across longitudinal axes (26) of the cables (lines) (10) and at height h=(0.4-0.8) mm, apex angle α₁=(55°-65°) and spacing 1=(1.1-1.6)·h. There is a rectangular cavity (27) on the top wedge (6), in which are fixed support bar (29) and U-bolt (31) of the first device (11) for pre-tightening the wedges (6, 7). On the bottom elongated and bent wedge (7) there are annular cavities (33, 34). U-bolt (35) and billet (36) of the second device (12) for pre-tightening wedges (6, 7) are fixed in cavity (34).

EFFECT: clamp, characterised by a simple design, technological effectiveness of the manufacturing process, easier assembling and reliability during long periods of operation.
