METHOD OF OBTAINING FEEDING BEHAVIOURAL RESPONSES DURING CHRONIC EXPERIMENT AND DEVICE FOR OBTAINING FEEDING BEHAVIOURAL RESPONSES DURING CHRONIC EXPERIMENT Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC A61N1/32 G09B23/28

Abstract RU 2368402 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine and namely to experimental physiology. Electric stimulation of hunger centres of lateral hypothalamus is performed with bipolar nickel-chromium electrodes through sleeves fixed in the holes of the pre-scalped rabbit's skull. At that, two holes with diametre of 1,2 mm are drilled on both sides of coronary seam in the scalped skull of the rabbit fed prior to that and subjected to soft immobilisation in the machine. In those holes there fixed are guiding sleeves having inner diametre of 0.7 mm, through which the electrode is entered with interelectrode distance of 0.2 mm. Motivatiogenic food centre of lateral hypothalamus is sought for by means of the wandering method. After the zone that is in charge for feeding behavioural response has been determined, the electrode is fixed. In a day, electric stimulation of centres of hungry rabbits is performed under conditions of free behaviour of animals with frequency of electric current of 50 Hz, voltage of 1-2 V, pulse duration of 1 ms, first, of one of hunger centres of lateral hypothalamus till feeding behaviour appears, and after weakening of behavioural response, the other hunger centre is subject to electric stimulation. Total period of electric stimulation is 3 hours. The device switches on two bipolar nickel-chromium electrodes, and each of them is made in the form of insulated twisted wires. Each electrode is inserted into the piece of injection needle having the possibility of being fixed in the sleeve.

EFFECT: inventions allow obtaining stable behavioural responses and decreasing stimulation zone.
