SUBSTANCE: property tree user interface enables a user to assign values to metadata properties and user navigation on data within a system which includes a data storage subsystem, in which data are organised and requested through properties. The property tree includes nodes which disclose data element properties. A user can interact with the property tree in order to assign properties, wherein the value which is associated with the property in the data storage subsystem is modified. The property tree can also display nodes representing folders within a hierarchical file system, nodes which represent properties with inherited hierarchy, and nodes which represent user-defined hierarchical properties and the property tree can display these nodes in round-robin type control.

EFFECT: faster finding and processing of data in a graphic interface.
