FIELD: instrument making.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to electronic engineering and may be used to register weak light signals in research in high energy physics, nuclear physics and may be used in radiation medicine, optics and various other technical applications. Photomultiplier comprises cylindrical glass body 7; on internal surface of which and internal surface of body near end window 1 a photosensitive layer is applied, which creates end semitransparent photocathode and photocathode collar. Inside body the following components are serially installed along longitudinal axis of instrument: annular metal lead 2, which provides for contact with photocathode collar, and secondary-emission multiplier of electrons, comprising electrode-diaphragm 3 with annular metal lead that also provides for contact to beginning of conductive resistive film 5, applied on internal surface of glass cylindrical body, having high value of secondary emission coefficient; needle-like metal electrode with metal cone-shaped collar 4, which is electrically connected to electrode-diaphragm and fixed via glass insulator with thin axial electrode 6; annular metal lead 8, which provides for contact to end of conductive resistive film 5; anode unit 9 with annular metal lead.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of photoelectrons registration and reduction of photomultiplier transverse dimensions.
