FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to detection of photons, electrons and ions in high-energy physics, nuclear physics, radiation medicine experiments and in different engineering applications, as well as for use as multiplier systems for miniature photomultipliers. The secondary emission electron multiplier contains an electrically conducting film (2), deposited on the inner surface of the input part of the cylindrical partitioned glass case of the multiplier (8). An electrode-diaphragm (4) is electrically connected to a needle-shaped electrode (5) with a metallic cone-shaped cuff. The electrode is connected through an insulator to an axial electrode in form of a thin conducting filament (7), which is connected to the anode (10). Electrons are multiplied when they collide with the electrically conducting layer (6), deposited on the inner surface of the cylindrical glass case and with high secondary emission coefficient.
EFFECT: increased electron collection efficiency in the multiplier system and smaller cross dimensions of the system.
