FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: electrolyte and method of depositing copper-zinc alloy coating relate to electroplating and can be used in rubber, machine building, shipbuilding and other industries. The electrolyte contains, mol/l: copper sulphate pentahydrate and zinc sulphate heptahydrate (in total) 0.06-0.20; sodium gluconate 0.30-0.55; water 1 l. The ratio of zinc sulphate concentration to the total concentration of copper and zinc sulphates is 0.25-0.40, and the ratio of sodium gluconate concentration to total concentration of copper and zinc sulphates is 2.00-6.67. The method involves preparation of components and electroplating at pH 5.2-5.8 of the said electrolyte, temperature of the electrolyte 15-40°C and cathode current density 0.6-2.0 A/dm2. Electroplating is done in a stream of electrolyte, moving at a speed of 3 m/s.

EFFECT: increased adhesion strength of rubber with brass plated steel, evenness of coating, as well as reduced aggressiveness of electrolyte.
