FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of immobilising solid radioactive wastes. The method involves preparation of blocks from a mixture containing wastes and an additive through hot-pressing the mixture. The additive used is fluorozirconate glass in amount of not less than 9.5% of the mass of the mixture. The blocks are pressed at pressure of not less than 5 MPa at temperature 320-390°C. The prepared blocks are held in molten fluorozirconate glass, with melting point which is lower than that of the glass used as additive to the mixture. Blocks placed into the molten mass are heated to the same temperature as the molten mass. After removal from the molten mass, the blocks are cooled.
EFFECT: wide arsenal of methods of immobilsing solid radioactive wastes, reduced temperature of processing (hot-pressing) mixture of wastes and an additive, obtaining blocks containing wastes with high leaching resistance.
