FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of fluorozirconate and fluor-hafnate luminescent glass doped with cerium trifluoride. Into charge of metal fluorides mixture, selected from a group: group IV metal fluoride; BaF2; LaF3; AlF3; NaF, where group IV metal fluoride is either ZrF4, or HfF4, additionally introducing ceria tetrafluoride as a fluorinating agent and a luminescent component. Cerium tetrafluoride is fed into charge in concentration of 1÷5 mol%. Then, the mixture is melted in an atmosphere of dry argon at temperature of 850÷950 °C for 30÷60 minutes, after which it is cooled in the same atmosphere.

EFFECT: obtaining luminescent glass which is optically transparent in range from 295 nm to 7½ mcm without oxygen-containing impurities, absence of optical losses at the wavelength of the absorption band of the OH group.
