FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to reinforcing glass fibres, containing the following components in within defined limits, expressed in weight percent: SiO2 50-65%, Al2O3 12-20%, CaO 13-16%, MgO 6-12%, B2O3 0-3%, TiO2 0-3%, Na2O+K2O< 2%, F2 0-1%, Fe2O3 < 1%. The said fibre consists of glass, which is a trade-off between mechanical properties, represented by specific Young's modulus, and melting and drawing conditions. Specific Young's modulus of the obtained glass is greater than 33.5 MPa.kg-1.m-3. Composite material made from glass fibres with said content, also contains one or more organic and/or inorganic materials.
EFFECT: obtaining glass with high specific Young's modulus.
