FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for making E-46 type electrodes for welding carbon steel structures. The coating has components in the following ratio, wt %: carbonate 10 to 15, organic blowing agent 2 to 5, mineral from silicate group 12 to 22, titaniferous mineral 20 to 55, manganous component 10 to 20, haematite 8 to 20. The mineral from silicate group is mica or feldspar or quartz sand. The titaniferous mineral is ilmenite or titanium silicate. The manganous component is silicomanganese or powdered steel alloy.
EFFECT: electrode with the said coating provides for low content of nonmetallic inclusions into weld metal and high impact strength; coating is made from nontoxic, relatively cheap and readily available components.
