SUBSTANCE: invention relates to device of ink-jet printing and method of choosing printing mode. Device for ink-jet printing which uses printing head for carrying out printing and is able to perform a number of printing options, which differ from each other by mode parametres and are set according to printing carrier types, contains: unit of printing image fragment, which prints many image fragments, in which values of mode parametres differ, when printing carrier is applied, which is different from printing carriers, which correspond to corresponding set of printing modes; unit of obtaining estimation, which obtains information of image estimation for each mode parametre; and unit of choosing, which chooses one printing mode from a number of printing modes, set according to printing carrier types, basing on mode parametres, for which estimations, which are mentioned by information of image estimation, are higher than certain level of estimation. Method of choosing printing mode in device of ink-jet printing contains stages: of printing image fragment, obtaining estimation, and stage of choosing, in which chosen is one mode from many printing modes, set according to types of printing carrier basing on parametres of modes for which estimations mentioned by information of image estimation are higher than certain level of estimation.
