FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to testing engineering, particularly to gripping devices for testing flexible materials for tension. The gripping device consists of a case wherein a wedge-like slot with angle α at top is made. A helix for total width of the gripping device is inserted into the slot; the cross section of the helix can vary. Section of the rod can be limited with two arcs of circumferences of various lengths and conjugated with them with straight lines converging at angle equal to α of the wedge in the case. Conjugating of direct lines with elements of circumferences is performed along tangent or by means of transitive radii. It is possible to limit section of the rod with circumference relative to which facets of the case wedge are tangents, for example, when the helix is made in form of a roller of round section. Moreover, the gripping device is equipped with a facility for uniform distribution of preliminary pressing of the helix to the wedge of the gripping device case; the device can be made in form of a shaft with cams turned by handles.
EFFECT: increased reliability of fixing sample in gripping device and expanded functionality.
