FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: claimed invention relates to ophthalmology. In order to determine functional state of tarsal glands imprints of secretion in area of lower eyelid edge are obtained and stained. Additionally imprints from upper eyelid are estimated. In order to obtain imprints strips of millipore filter corresponding to eyelid edge form are used. Obtained imprints are placed in vapours of 5% osmic acid solution for 5 minutes. After that functional state of tarsal glands is determined by number of stained orifices of excretory ducts of tarsal glands, width of bridges connecting them and degree of their staining.
EFFECT: method allows to realise quantitative evaluation of functional state of tarsal glands of the whole eyelid quickly and efficiently without application of expensive equipment.
