FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: average distance between duct orifices of the neighbouring Meibomian glands (MG), which open on the edge eyelid margin, (d) is measured and expressed in points. An average ratio of the MG duct orifice size and the neighbouring MG duct orifices distance (id) is derived. An average MG size visualised with the everted eyelid (g) is determined. An average ratio of the neighbouring MG distance and the average Meibomian gland size (ig) is derived. All the values found are expressed in points. A MG biometric index is calculated by a specific formula. If the index is 7-8 points, the morphofunctional status of the MG is considered to be normal; the index of 5-6 points shows a partial dysfunction of the MG, and 4 points - a pronounced dysfunction of the MG.
EFFECT: method provides the qualitative assessment of morphofunctional disorders of the MG, conducting timely therapeutic measures by performing biomicroscopy, assessing 4 parameters found and the MG biometric index.
