METHOD OF ESTIMATING EFFICIENCY OF DIFFUSE TOXIC GOITER THERAPY WITH RADIOACTIVE IODINE Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC A61B5/452

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to therapy and endocrinology. Estimation of thyroid gland function is carried out, for which purpose additionally variability of cardiac rhythm is evaluated. ECG of patient is recorded in three standard derivations, indices of standard interval deviation R-R (SDNN) and mean frequency of heart contractions (HR) are calculated, and evaluation of thyroid gland function (f) is calculated by original formula. If index value is f<0, which corresponds to normal or lower hormone level, thyroid gland function and treatment efficiency are estimated as positive. If value of thyroid gland function index is f>0, thyroid gland function is estimated as higher and efficiency of treatment with radioactive iodine is estimated as unsatisfactory.

EFFECT: method is affordable, does not require complicated equipment and calculations, allows to estimate therapy efficiency immediately during patient reception and, if necessary, to direct them to determine hormone level in order to confirm results obtained.
