FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in preparing sealer for engines and gas pumping installations. Pitch or shale coke with volatile matter content of 3.0 to 9.0 wt % is crushed until obtaining fractional composition, in which a fraction with particle size of 21 to 30 mcm constitutes not less than 95 wt %. The crushed coke is mixed at temperature between 200 and 300°C with 38 to 40 wt % coal tar pitch with melting point between 130 and 160°C, and with 0.2 to 0.35 wt % organic additive, which is in form of at least one higher carboxylic acid compound with molecular size ranging from 0.6 to 1.4 nm. The obtained mixture is crushed to a moulding powder. Workpieces are moulded, burnt and graphitised at temperature ranging from 1600 to 1950°C. After graphitisation, the workpieces are saturated with a solution of furfuryl alcohol and citric acid and thermally treated while gradually raising temperature to 240 to 300°C.
EFFECT: invention increases density, increases ultimate strength, wearing resistance and uniformity of the graphitised material, and reduces its gas permeability as well.
